A crowd of enthralled supporters greeted them outside the courtroom. According to restrictions imposed by the court, Navalny is not permitted to leave the Russian capital for the time being. The court ruled Navalny may run in the September Moscow mayoral elections despite charges set against him. However, the Putin oppositionist said he had not yet decided whether he would carry on with his mayoral campaign. He was sentenced to five years in jail on Thursday when both he and Ofitserov were found guilty of embezzlement on a large scale. Navalny claims the charges are outlandish and meant to prevent him from critiquing Russian President Vladimir Putin. Navalny told his supporters: "I don’t know what kind of decision they will make in two months. But I know one thing, which is very important to me - I have you, and you are not going anywhere. I want to thank all of you again. Thanks to you, I can stand here right now looking at the blue sky. Thank you, guys!"
